More random

His anger at the perpetrator was a minor problem at that point in time. His frustration at his complete helplessness had completely overwhelmed him. He felt so useless doing nothing but sitting on a rock, as the world about him collapsed. He gained small comfort in the fact that he wasn’t the only one; all around him, his classmates were staring at their toes, fiddling with their robes and generally doing nothing. What could they do? Could anyone expect them to do anything?

After studying the floor in painstaking detail, he realised that even though he couldn’t do anything to help the situation around him, he could at least pay attention. As he stood up though, he noticed something startling. Aerin was drawing marks in the dust. The marks of a spell. What could he possibly be trying to do? It seemed that he was the only one who had noticed, as the rest of the class were still preoccupied with their feet and the ground beneath them. He made his way over to Aerin, curious to see what it was he could be doing.

As Cren approached Aerin, he became dismayed. Each step towards the markings in the floor had found him hoping, praying that there was a spell unfolding before him that could have some impact on their dire circumstances. When he came close enough to make out the markings however, his hopes were dashed.

A light beam.

Aerin was this preoccupied with a simple light beam. He watched disheartenedly as the light beam slowly took shape, giving off an insignificant glow to the gloomy surroundings. The light reflected off the symbols on the ground, displaying their every curve, corner and crevice.
