Amazing! It's so long...
The lecturer rose before them, standing up from his seat and levitating upwards, stopping roughly halfway between the floor and the ceiling. The class stopped their whispering, all eyes turning to him. Not that the levitation was an out-of-the-ordinary occurrence of course, but everyone knew that today the end exam series was being announced.
Every year the end exam was different, and every year it was a breathtaking experience. Each participant was monitored remotely, and all the junior students got to watch as the senior students fought their way through obstacle courses, solved complicated puzzles and performed high level magic. The highlight of the year, most thought, and indeed it was an event worth taking note of.
“No doubt you are all anxious to hear the details about this year's end exams.” Somehow the lecturer managed to drone even this exciting news in the same monotonous tone as he used in classes.
“That, ladies and gentlemen is your first task. Find out what the rest of your tasks will be.”
The class erupted into commotion. Students left, right and centre were asking anyone who would listen to them millions of questions, and of course no-one was listening to anyone else, only asking their own questions.
“The following information will be useful in this task...” (the class instantly became dead quiet), “Every staff member is carrying detailed instructions on at least one of your upcoming tasks...”
A red-haired student lurched forward at the lecturer. The lecturer moved his hand faster than any human eye could follow, and the student hit a green spark in the air and shot backwards into the wall.
“HOWEVER, no staff member will willingly give up his information. Any attempts to retrieve this information must occur outside of classrooms. Students breaking this rule will be dealt with harshly. And now ladies and gentlemen...”
He had the class' absolute attention.
“You may get to work.”
He opened the door, and as he set foot out of the class, he accelerated forward at lightning speed, moving down the corridor and outside in a flash
